Stories are not just about reading it from a book and explaining the child about its moral. It is important to show out children the face of an angry lion, of the sad swan, of the happy bear finding the pot of honey.
By doing this, we are teaching and preparing our children for the world around them.
We are helping them to ‘read’ the faces of the people around them, and this in turn helps our children to understand what social behaviours should be encouraged in these situations.
Considering the importance of using props and expressions in story telling we have organised a story telling workshop for parents and teacher. To conduct this workshop we have invited an avid story teller from Vadodara who has done workshops and training in leading schools in Gujarat.
Ms. Hiran Bagadia, is an Avid Educator and specialist in Early Childhood Care and Education. She is a budding story teller and conducted many workshops for teachers and parents. She is the founder of Balaji Eduserve , an institute to Educate, Empower and Enlighten Teachers in the field of Preprimary Teaching.
Highlights of the Workshop:
- Breathing/Singing/Moving and Storytelling.
- Styles of Speaking in Storytelling.
- Acting-out Characters (Role-playing).
- Audience-Participation in Storytelling.
- Group Enactment of Stories (Performing Skits).
- Story Drawing/Painting/Illustrating/Mapping.
- Storytelling accompanied by Illustrations, Puppets, Masks, and Props.
The participants will be coached on the use of words, tone of voice, gestures, facial expressions, and other factors for effective communication – and it is always kept in mind that the teachers will be coaching their students in similar ways.
